"Trail fo Screams" Volunteers
District 10 Volunteer Fire Department in Holden is looking for dedicated volunteers to help work the annual haunted "Trail of Screams" in Livingston. Volunteers are needed starting the first week in September for minor constructing, theme setting, and some good "scary" characters for when the trail opens the last weekend in September for minor constructing, theme setting, and some good "scary" character for when the trail opens the last weekend in September and lasting through the last weekend in October. They are also looking for any donations of costumes, props, monetary donations, etc.

"Journey Stories"
The Denham Springs Museum is requesting support to compliment the theme of "Journey Stories" and to showcase Livingston Parish's unique history, culture and stories. Parish residents of all ages are asked to write their family history and means by which their families traveled here. A community meeting on the project will be held Sept. 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the Denham Springs Old City Hall on Mattie St. The exhibit is scheduled to be shown Sept. 3 through Oct. 15. Vintage Junkie Workshop
The Arts Council of Livingston Parish is hosting a Vintage Junkie Workshop designed by artist Shelly Frederick on Sept. 7 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Hummell Street Gallery, 133 Hummell Street, in Denham Springs. Inspired by the book "Eat Pray Love," participants will use vintage photographs, old buttons, baubles and glitter to capture their thoughts and dreams of life's journey in this unique one-of-of-kind mini journal. Registration required as space is limited.

"Cry Out America"
A 9/11 remembrance ceremony, "Cry Out America," will be held Sept. 10 form noon to 1 p.m. at the Livingston Parish Courthouse. American citizens will unite in courthouses across the United States for the spiritual condition of our nation. The public is invited to attend and school administrators are encouraged to allow students to participate.

Taste Fair & Crafts
The Family Resource Clinic will hold its 2nd Annual Taste Fair & Craft Extravaganza on Sept. 18 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs form 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Taste Fair is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds will go to the Family Resource Clinic in Livingston. The event is in need of businesses and individuals. Indoor and outdoor craft booths are available. People are needed who sell items such as jewelry, purses, bows, clothing, furniture, home decor, fragrance candles, knifes, hunting items, etc. Also needed are chefs, restaurants, caterers to participate. Princess Tea
The Denham Springs Pilot Club will hold its 4th Annual Princess Tea on Sept. 25 at Denham Springs First Baptist Church, 308 N. River Road, form 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. There will be crafts, food, games, and prizes. $15 for one princess and one adult. Purchase tickets from any Pilot member or at the door. Tickets may also be purchased by calling 202-6160 or sending an email to terriborde@att.net. Proceeds will go toward the Denham Springs Kidz Korner Playground. The Pilot Club has $5000 left to raise until the playground is fully funded.

Middle School Soccer Tryouts Scheduled Oct. 3 & 17
Tryouts for the 2010-11 Livingston Parish Express Middle School Boys and Girls Soccer Teams will be held at the PARDS Soccer Complex Oct. 3 & 17. Players in 6th and 7th grades will try out Oct. 3 at 2:30 pm and players in 8th grade will try out Oct. 17 at 2:30 pm. Three or more teams will be chosen. All players must have a 1.5 grade point average or better. Please bring cleats, shin guards, a #5 soccer ball, light colored shirt and dark colored shirt.
