Second Community Clinic Screening Site
Opens in Livingston Parish at the
Women Outreaching Women Administrative Center

(Front row Frank Magee, WOW Board Member, Cherie Ducote-Breaux, President, Mona Mistric, Women Outreaching Women Executive Director and founder, Pat Alford, Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic Executive Director, Denham Springs Council persons Annie Fugler and Rene Delahoussaye)

(Second row Livingston Parish Sheriff Willie Graves, WOW Board Member, Bob Wallner, Community Leader and WOW Board Vice President, David Tate, Livingston Parish School Board Member and WOW Board Member, Judy Adams, WOW Board Treasurer and Malcom Underwood, WOW Board Member)

The second Community Clinic Screening Site opened July 21st, at the Women Outreaching Women Administrative Center, 26876 4-H Club Road, Denham Springs. Women Outreaching Women's Board of Directors came to support this newest partnership in the community.

The Community Clinic provides free medical, dental, mental health and vision care services to low-income, uninsured working adults (ages 19 to 64) in nine parishes. A recent study reported that one in three Louisianans under age 65 were uninsured at some point during the past two years. To make matters worse, Louisiana now ranks as the least healthy state in the nation.  The Community Clinic was created because of its concern for the working poor.  Since opening its doors in 2000, it is making a difference by providing a medical home, teaching preventive healthcare and giving the low-income, uninsured, working individuals an opportunity to live healthier and more productive lives.

To determine eligibility, screenings in Livingston Parish will be held twice a month every 1st Tuesday at Livingston City Hall in Livingston, and 3rd Tuesday at the Women Outreaching Women Center in Denham Springs.  Screenings will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.  No appointments will be required.

The six-month eligibility is based on work history and earned income.  Applicants must bring the following data to the screening:  2008 Income Tax Statement, 2 Most current pay check stubs, Proof of residency and Photo ID.

On the steps of the Capitol.

After a tour of Ford's Theater where Lincoln was shot, the group headed to the Peterson House across the street where Lincoln later died.

The students got a real treat while visiting the Lincoln Memorial. Country singer Brad Paisley was shooting a new video for "Welcome to the Future" on the steps. Students were able to participate in video as well as get pictures and autographs with the country star.

THe JADD students joined other SADD teens from across the country for a Rally at Capitol Hill. Their mission was to meet with their states' Congressmen and women and gain support for changes in the drinking age from 18 to 21 or for being able to enter a bar at 18 even though the drinking age is 21.

Mason, Jesse and Jonathan wait to speak with Senator David Vittor along with the rest of the Denham Springs High JADD members.
