First Graduate of Live Oak High School
Shelly Strobel sends picture and writes "I found this picture in my Grandmother Laura Underwood's treasures. It's a picture of the very first graduate of Live Oak High School, Adele Fugler Fontenot, and she was the entire senior class! (She was Adele Fugler when she graduated.) I think it was in 1925. Live Oak had been a school that only went through 8th grade until that time. After 8th grade, those who wanted to continue their education either went away to boarding school, stayed with relatives in Denham Springs and attended school there, or went by horseback to Denham Springs to school every day. Some of our great aunts and uncles did all three at one time or another!"
